I would personally go for no rules but seeing as how some people like to abuse forums, I've posted these rules in advance.
these are just a few rules from VGLan forums that I found quite suitable.
No SPAM/Non Contributory Posts
Unrelated or off-topic posts that only serve to disrupt or derail topics are not permitted. Such posts will be deleted and a warning will be given.
Do not attack other members
You have no reason to attack another member, whatever the reason may be. If you dislike a member, then just Ignore them. Derailing or starting of topics for the sake of tangential arguments is not allowed, and could result in a ban if behavior is continuous.
No Explicit Content
Meaning no porn, yaoi or any inappropriate content that is not safe for work. Such content includes but is not limited to: scenes depicting sexual intercourse or other forms of sex, bloody scenes, corpse, deformation of bodies, etc.
No Advertising
I have the signature and homepage profile fields enabled in the case that a user wishes to somehow promote themselves, but I don't allow posts of this nature.
If you've found something interesting or funny, and you think it would spark some interesting discussion, go ahead and post it. However, if it is something like you linking to your forum, then forget it. It is easy to tell the difference between shameless promotion and linking to websites out of convenience/amusement.
Minor Guidelines
• Do not claim that your relative or friend hijacked your account and posted SPAM or caused trouble on the forum. You must uphold full responsibility within your account, and you must take care of it. This works in the way of 'If your friend/relative is causing trouble using your account, then you can not be exempted from the trouble your account caused. I'd recommend you use a secure password, and that you log-out if you're on a shared computer to prevent any of this.
• No Superwes allowed.
• Do not pretend that you know a subject, when you really don't.
• Do not link to shock sites (i.e. Rick Rolls, goatse, meatspin) or other forms of Internet gimmicks that exist only to disrupt a user's web browsing experience.
• Minimise the use of language as this is not a truck drivers convention.
one final thing:
Everything posted on this site is free and must not be used for commercial purposes.
and that's pretty much it
have fun and enjoy
keep in mind that this forum will be updating constantly
as well as the rules
